Famous Musician's Who Went Through Hardships?

Hello. I have to do a research paper and any famous, or well known person who has been through their one adversity. I am really into music as my hobbie, and future career, so I wanted it to be a professional clical musician. I am NOT looking for singers, guitarists, jazz, etc. Something like Beethoven (I know he went deaf, but I'm looking for someone not so known) Did shostakovitch go through any serious hard times? Rachmoninoff? Anyone else would be greatly appreciated!!!
