In my humble opinion there are two kinds of condensed milk (one for like coffee and the other for baking) The one for coffee has a funny taste to it and the one for baking is sweet like Eagle brand). There are recipes that call for the sweetened milk but you'd use it only if the recipe "specifically" called for it. So I would say never substitute condensed milk for the other kind of milk as the taste will change and you'd be throwing away your money.
