Why does the bible call Jews to be a "synagogue of satan" when many biblical persons were jewish?

It's not calling all Jews a synogogue of satan. Only those who profess to follow God and His ways (true judaism), and yet by their actions, or secretly in their heart, they live a self-serving life, full of hypocricy and hate. G-d's way is true, selfish love and care for Him and others.
