Can somebody tell me when you use PRETERITE and when you use IMPERFECT in SPANISH? What are the differences?
When you speak about something that happened one time, once in the past. Like "I went to the mall." or "I ate breakfast" you use the preterit The imperfect is something in the past that happened over a period of time in the past or that explains feelings, weather, or age in the past. It is also used for something that was interrupted. Like "i was eating (imperfect) when my mom walked (preterit in. The interrupted action takes imperfect and the action that interrupted takes the preterit
